Terms of Service

These terms govern Mudhaven accounts, public listings, community resources, and approved MUD, BYOND, database, and game-website hosting.

Effective
July 15, 2026
Using Mudhaven means you agree to these terms, the Acceptable Use Policy, and the Hosting Rules that apply to any service you receive.
01

Accounts and eligibility

Provide accurate account and contact information, keep credentials secure, and notify Mudhaven if you believe an account or hosting credential has been compromised. You are responsible for activity performed through your account and project access.

  • One person may not create deceptive duplicate accounts or impersonate another person or project.
  • Email verification is required before submitting content or requesting hosting.
  • Mudhaven may require additional ownership or contact verification before granting sensitive access.
02

Your submissions

You retain ownership of worlds, code, text, artwork, and files you submit. You grant Mudhaven a limited, non-exclusive license to store, scan, back up, reproduce, and display that material only as needed to review, publish, secure, and operate the requested service.

  • You must have permission to submit and distribute the material.
  • Public listings and resources require staff approval.
  • You may edit or remove your material subject to operational, security, backup, and legal retention requirements.
03

Community hosting

Hosting is donation-supported, capacity-limited, and provided after staff approval. Approval is not permanent entitlement to server capacity. Mudhaven may change limits, schedule maintenance, pause unsafe workloads, or end a service when necessary to protect the platform and its users.

  • No uptime, performance, support-response, data-retention, or backup guarantee is made.
  • Keep independent copies of source, databases, saves, assets, and website files.
  • Assigned ports, subdomains, shell usernames, and database identifiers remain subject to availability and staff adjustment.
04

Acceptable use

You must follow the Acceptable Use Policy and Hosting Rules. Prohibited activity includes unlawful content, malware, credential theft, unauthorized access, denial-of-service activity, resource abuse, and attempts to escape project or account restrictions.

05

Review, suspension, and termination

Mudhaven may reject submissions, request changes, restrict features, suspend services, remove public material, or terminate accounts when content or activity creates legal, security, operational, or community risk. When practical, staff will explain the reason and provide a path to correct the issue. Severe or repeated abuse may be acted on immediately.

06

Service disclaimer

Mudhaven is provided on an as-available basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Mudhaven disclaims implied warranties and is not responsible for lost data, lost revenue, interrupted gameplay, third-party conduct, or indirect damages arising from use of the service. Some jurisdictions do not allow every limitation, so applicable law may give you additional rights.

07

Changes and contact

Mudhaven may update these terms as services and risks change. Material changes will be announced through the website or account notices when practical. Continued use after an effective date means the updated terms apply. Questions may be sent to the public contact address below.
