MUD Hosting

Your world, your code, your shell.

Mudhaven gives approved MUD builders a secure Linux account with SSH/SFTP access and one public game port. You keep control of your source and daily operation while staff handles the server-side account, access, and optional services.

  • Key-only SSH and SFTP access
  • One public game port to start
  • Managed runtime and resource limits

Server side

What Mudhaven Provides

01
Linux account

A standard unprivileged shell account configured for SSH-key login and SFTP transfers.

02
Player endpoint

One approved public TCP port and the connection details players need to reach your world.

03
Optional services

Staff-provisioned MySQL credentials and an optional reviewed static HTML/CSS/JS website.

04
Managed operation

Start, stop, restart, recent journal logs, public port checks, and systemd-enforced CPU and memory limits.

Your world

What You Manage

01
Project files

Upload and organize your source, areas, scripts, configuration, assets, and private backups.

02
Builds and updates

Compile your own codebase, resolve build errors, and test changes before using them on the live world.

03
Daily operation

Manage configuration, game data, updates, and compilation through your shell; use the portal for the approved live service.

04
Recovery copies

Keep current off-server backups. Staff can maintain protected host snapshots, but MUD hosting does not use the BYOND self-service backup workspace.

From request to login

How It Works

  1. 1

Create your Mudhaven account, verify your email, and prepare an SSH public key.

  2. 2

Submit the MUD request with your project name, preferred shell username, and requested port.

  3. 3

Staff reviews available capacity and provisions approved shell, port, database, and website details.

  4. 4

Connect through SSH/SFTP, upload and compile your world, then use the account page for normal runtime controls, logs, and port checks.

Before you apply

Prepare your account and SSH key.

The request form asks only for the information staff needs to review capacity and provision the right access.

  • A verified Mudhaven account, project name, and working contact email.
  • Your preferred lowercase Linux shell username.
  • A complete SSH public key; never submit the private key.
  • Your preferred game port, subject to availability.
  • Requested MySQL names if your codebase needs a database.
  • A preferred Mudhaven subdomain if you need a static game website.
