Original smaug1.4a.tgz, a historical SMAUG distribution derived from Merc 2.1 and DikuMUD. Credits Derek Snider / Thoric and the SMAUG code team named in this archive's license and source headers. Preserve individual area and contributor credits. Inherited Merc credits include Michael Chastain, Michael Quan and Mitchell Tse. DikuMUD credits include Sebastian Hammer, Michael Seifert, Hans Henrik Stærfeldt, Tom Madsen and Katja Nyboe. Bundled IMC2 documentation credits Oliver Jowett; preserve all component contributor notices. License and attribution The archive contains version-specific SMAUG, Merc and DikuMUD notices. Retain copyright, login and help credits and the referenced conditions, including inherited non-profit restrictions. Later SMAUG notices also discuss access, area-content restrictions and notification requests. Use the actual bundled notices, not a substitute license. Licensing approval remains pending. IMC2 documentation states GPL version 2 or later and includes its own COPYING file. This separate component license does not make the entire archive solely GPL. Compatibility and safety warnings Mudhaven has not compiled, boot-tested or security-audited this historical software. Modern compiler and operating-system compatibility is unverified. Review old startup/build scripts and server defaults before use. Test in isolation, back up existing worlds and saves, and do not assume releases share compatible data formats. The unchanged archive includes historical runtime-data candidates such as player, board or system files. Review bundled data and account settings before running or exposing a server. Contains an original zero-byte system/REQUESTS FIFO entry. Mudhaven preserves the archive as a download without extracting it or creating that FIFO. Extraction on your own system may create a named pipe.
