Historical Mortal Realms source and example areas, with builder documentation, multimedia assets and original Merc and DikuMUD notices.
About this resource
Historical Mortal Realms / MrMUD 1.4 source distribution. The archive contains 244 regular files, including C source, example areas, builder and developer documentation, multimedia assets, startup/build files and original runtime data. MrMUD.txt is supplied as a separate unchanged companion. License and attribution The archive includes doc/license.doc (DikuMUD), doc/license.txt (Merc 2.1 terms) and doc/readme.chaos.txt (Mortal Realms release guidance and requested credits). The bundled terms require preservation of notices and inherited attribution and contain noncommercial and notification conditions. The Mortal Realms note permits use of its code while requesting specific credits; it does not remove inherited terms or establish blanket rights to every bundled area and media asset. Keep all notices and contributor credits intact. Distribution approval remains pending. Compatibility warning The installation README says the basic package does not immediately boot and requires area-file setup and compilation work. It describes historical Unix ports and startup/port configuration. No modern build, boot or compatibility test has been performed. Privacy and security warning The unchanged archive includes a privileged starter-player record, historical runtime lists and a bundled executable area utility. The README describes an unsecured initial administrator login. It also contains a nested TAR and third-party multimedia assets requiring separate review. Do not run this package with its supplied accounts or treat it as security-audited. Review the bundled runtime data and utilities before use.
Compatibility
Historical C source and Unix build scripts. README warns that area setup and compilation require work. Modern compatibility unverified.
A download checksum confirms file integrity, not security or runtime compatibility. Review the source and included documentation before running unfamiliar software.
Attribution stays with the work.
