About this resource
Original MacEnvyMUD1.0.sit.hqx, unchanged. Includes 130 files: source, areas, documentation, classic Macintosh application and compiler projects. Credits Mac port by John C. Daub (Hsoi), October 1994; earlier Macintosh work by Oleg (Neil Tiffin). Envy by Michael Quan, David Love, Guilherme "Willie" Arnold and Mitchell Tse. Merc by Michael Chastain, Michael Quan and Mitchell Tse. DikuMUD by Sebastian Hammer, Michael Seifert, Hans Henrik Staerfeldt, Tom Madsen and Katja Nyboe. Preserve bundled contributor, area-author and port-note credits. License and attribution Included Diku, Merc and Envy terms apply; no unrestricted-use license. Preserve all notices, license documents and required help/credits text. The included Diku license has noncommercial and publication-notification conditions. Port/documentation and runtime/library redistribution rights still require review. Bundled older MacMERC notes reserve John C. Daub rights and state that explicit permission was not obtained to include Oleg's earlier notes. Licensing approval remains pending. Compatibility and safety warnings Single-user local area-testing port, with no TCP/IP or AppleTalk networking. Classic 68k Macintosh, not modern macOS; historical THINK C/Symantec C++ tooling, compatible libraries and 32-bit addressing required. Reduced socials and string limits, slow operation, and documented bugs. Includes a sample privileged character with a documented default password and historical bug-log data. Preserve both data/resource forks, MacRoman names and folder layout. No archived program was executed or malware-cleared. Hash checks prove byte identity, not safety or distribution rights.
Compatibility
Classic 68k Macintosh / THINK C 7.0.3; 32-bit addressing; no modern macOS or network-server compatibility claim.
A download checksum confirms file integrity, not security or runtime compatibility. Review the source and included documentation before running unfamiliar software.
Attribution stays with the work.
License
Inherited Diku/Merc/Envy and port/component terms; licensing approval pending
