God Wars Deluxe - Historical Merc-Derived Codebase

Overview
God Wars Deluxe is a historical Merc 2.1 and DikuMUD-derived codebase by Richard Woolcock, known as KaVir. The original godwars-deluxe.tgz contains 140 files, including C source and headers, a Makefile and startup script, 61 area files, help text, and documentation. It is useful for studying the classic God Wars lineage and its world content.

Archive and provenance
Mudhaven hosts the original godwars-deluxe.tgz archive unchanged. Its SHA-256 hash matched the historical copy available from the Xrakisis Mud Site archive when checked. No source files, documentation, licenses, credits, or other archive members were edited, removed, or repacked. Hosting notification has been sent, as confirmed by the site administrator. Archive-site upload dates are not original release dates.

They include noncommercial restrictions, notification provisions, preservation of copyright notices, required credits and login text, and preservation of specified Merc and God Wars help entries. On-site availability does not grant additional permissions or establish that every contribution is covered by later upstream license changes.

Compatibility and safety
Legacy C source intended for Unix-style tools. Mudhaven has not compiled or boot-tested this release. Modern compiler, operating-system, library, and 64-bit compatibility are unverified. Review source and startup scripts, build under an unprivileged account, and test in an isolated environment before public deployment. Initial archive inspection found no populated player or log directories; this is not a security audit, malware-free certification, or a guarantee that all bundled data is suitable for production.
