About this resource

EnvyMUD 2.2, dated 14 February 1997. Both original distribution formats are retained unchanged: Envy_22.tar.gz and Envy_22.zip. Each contains the same 146 regular-file contents, including C source, world areas, developer documentation, platform makefiles and optional contributions. They are alternate containers for one release, not separate versions.

License and attribution
Read doc/license.doc, doc/license.txt, doc/license.nvy, contrib.txt and individual contribution headers. The DikuMUD, Merc and Envy documents retain noncommercial, notification, copyright, credit and in-game help obligations. Optional contributions can impose additional attribution and notification requirements, including Erwin's scan.v1 notice. No blanket permission for every addition is inferred. Distribution approval remains pending.

Compatibility and security warning
The original includes Windows 95/NT batch and command startup scripts and historical Unix build files. These are retained as source material, not executed. The optional contributions README warns that its snippets do not patch directly into stock Envy 2.2. No modern build, boot, malware or security audit has been performed. Review scripts and integration requirements before isolated testing.

Compatibility

Historical C, Unix makefiles and Windows 95/NT startup scripts. Modern build and runtime compatibility unverified.

A download checksum confirms file integrity, not security or runtime compatibility. Review the source and included documentation before running unfamiliar software.

Attribution stays with the work.
