EmpireMUD 1.0 - Historical CircleMUD-Derived Package
Historical EmpireMUD package with original C source, world data, documentation and license notices, derived from CircleMUD and tbgMUD. Includes legacy binaries and runtime data.
About this resource
Original empire.zip, preserved unchanged, containing historical EmpireMUD source, world data, documentation, license text and runtime files. The included README and credits identify preliminary EmpireMUD 1.0 and a CircleMUD 3.0 bpl17 / tbgMUD 2.4 lineage. The license header says EmpireMUD 0.0 Beta and some help material names Age of Destiny 3. This is a historical package, not an independently authenticated pristine stock release. Credits Paul Clarke / Gideon Six and EmpireMUD contributors; tbgMUD contributors; Kris Saw, David Johnson, David York, Tharyn (Mark), Andrew Flyer, Melk and Shandia (Julie). Preserve all individual source and world attributions. CircleMUD by Jeremy Elson and contributors. DikuMUD by Katja Nyboe, Tom Madsen, Hans Henrik Staerfeldt, Michael Seifert and Sebastian Hammer. Retain the historical Age of Destiny 3, White Wolf and World of Darkness notices. License warning Preserve doc/license.doc, README, lib/text/credits, credits.short, help credits and every individual notice unchanged. The included EmpireMUD conditions and CircleMUD/DikuMUD licenses require retaining notices, license text, login attribution and credits, and include noncommercial/no-compensation conditions and notification requirements. The Empire introduction's historical wording must not be treated as an unrestricted grant or a public-domain dedication; other credits assert Paul Clarke's intellectual property. Help credits include White Wolf / World of Darkness notices and reproduction restrictions. Attribution is not permission to redistribute third-party setting material. Licensing approval remains unresolved. Archive and runtime-data warnings Contains 13 ELF executables, including the server and utilities in bin, src/a.out, signbackup and two world map programs. Nonempty mail, board messages, saved-player objects and logs, including bad-password and operational history, may contain personal or sensitive information. The empty players files do not establish that the rest is clean. Do not expose or reuse old runtime state, run bundled programs, or extract untrusted archives with elevated privileges. Nested archive warning empiremud/src/Archive.tgz and empiremud/src/interpreter.c.tgz have valid gzip checksums and readable member payloads, but their TAR containers omit all end-marker blocks. These nonstandard originals are preserved without repair or repacking. Compatibility and safety warnings Historical C/Unix source and old configure/GCC tooling. Modern compiler and operating-system compatibility are unverified. Mudhaven has not compiled, boot-tested, malware-scanned or comprehensively security-audited this material. A matching hash establishes byte identity, not safety or distribution permission. Historical contact details may no longer work.
Compatibility
Historical C/Unix source and old configure/GCC build tooling; modern compiler, library and operating-system compatibility unverified.
A download checksum confirms file integrity, not security or runtime compatibility. Review the source and included documentation before running unfamiliar software.
Attribution stays with the work.
