License and attribution Inherited DikuMUD, Merc and ROM 2.3 notices impose conditions including noncommercial use, preserved notices and help/login credits, and notification requirements. These are not unrestricted-use or public-domain packages. Historical contact addresses may no longer work. Licensing approval remains unresolved. The bundled EmberMUD notice requires EmberMUD login attribution, unchanged help ember/help embermud, retained README/license files, derivative labeling and respect for the reserved EmberMUD name. Preserve inherited and component-specific notices alongside these terms. The bundled v0.9.33+ notice revised 14 July 1998 credits Kyle Boyd and specifies an attempt to contact Zak before opening a MUD. Earlier notices use a different contact clause. Retain the exact version supplied. Compatibility and safety warnings Historical software not compiled, executed, malware-scanned or security-audited by Mudhaven. Modern compiler, operating-system and save/world compatibility is unverified. Review archived scripts, accounts and runtime defaults before use. The release line changes MUDProg parsing, string handling and ember.cfg configuration. Review the Changelog and migrate only after backups and compatibility testing. Later releases change resets, banking, bans and other game systems. Prerelease and final archives are distinct; do not substitute one for another. Includes nonempty historical runtime-data candidates such as player, board or configuration data. Inspect before use and do not adopt archived records as live defaults.
