License notice

Preserve the original Diku/Merc notices, noncommercial restrictions, notification requirements, and required login/help credits. The included March 1998 God Wars license requires express permission from Richard Woolcock before running or making source available. Preserve its exact help/login credits. Dystopia/component permissions must also be resolved.

Compatibility and security warnings

COTN historical snapshots with Dystopia 1.2 documentation and runtime/backup data. Preserve variant-specific notices and do not assume versions share identical contents. Despite .tar.gz name, actual bytes form a ZIP and member CRCs pass. Requires an exact-hash format exception, not repacking or a blanket gzip bypass.

Historical code and binaries have not been compiled, executed, or security-audited. Archive inspection is not malware clearance. Bundled runtime data, defaults and credentials must be reviewed before use. Original bytes and notices are unchanged. Upload acceptance is not redistribution permission.

A download checksum confirms file integrity, not security or runtime compatibility. Review the source and included documentation before running unfamiliar software.

Attribution stays with the work.
