The included DikuMUD, Merc and ROM licenses are layered, not an unrestricted-use grant. Preserve doc/license.doc, doc/license.txt, doc/rom.license, doc/rom.credits and all README documents unchanged. Conditions include copyright and license retention, required login/help attribution, applicable notification requirements, noncommercial and no-distribution-charge restrictions, and ROM naming and derivative-identification rules. Historical contact addresses may no longer work. Availability of this archive does not establish that all redistribution conditions have been satisfied.

Compatibility and safety warnings
README.version identifies the underlying ROM 2.4b6 release as May 29, 1998; this does not date the later cleanup. Historical Unix/Linux C++ build target; modern compiler and operating-system compatibility are unverified. The package has not been compiled, boot-tested, malware-certified or comprehensively security-audited. The word Cleaned is a historical package label, not proof of safety. Review scripts and configuration before use. No compiled ELF/MZ programs or nested archives were detected, but this is not a safety guarantee. The unchanged archive includes a nonempty player file with a password field. Review bundled player data and replace inherited accounts or credentials before deploying; do not treat it as an empty production installation.

A download checksum confirms file integrity, not security or runtime compatibility. Review the source and included documentation before running unfamiliar software.
