AberMUD - Historical 1989 Unix Snapshot
Historical AberMUD Unix source, world data and RCS history with noncommercial distribution conditions.
About this resource
Original Unix AberMUD snapshot with source, world/data files and RCS history. The archive retains two historical hardlink headers and original TAR padding. Credits and licensing The included notices impose noncommercial conditions, retention of the unmodified distribution notice, original source, copyrights and credits, and reserved character names. Modified distributions must include the original source according to the supplied terms. Preserve all notices; inclusion in this collection does not itself establish permission. Compatibility and security warnings The README recommends setuid operation and lists password cryptography as unfinished. Do not follow old privilege instructions on a production server. Source and revision history contain password-related macros; review and replace configuration before use without exposing values. Never extract historical links blindly. The upload inspector does not create or follow them. Original bytes and included notices are preserved. Archive integrity checks are not a malware clearance or comprehensive security audit. Mudhaven has not compiled or boot-tested this historical package.
Compatibility
Historical Unix C; obsolete privilege and account assumptions.
A download checksum confirms file integrity, not security or runtime compatibility. Review the source and included documentation before running unfamiliar software.
Attribution stays with the work.
License
Historical noncommercial AberMUD terms
