------------[ NEW FEATURES TO VERSION 1.1 ]--------------
Please note, to get a full listing, begin with ISLES10.TXT and read
ALL and IN ORDER. Thanks!
---------------------------------------------------------

Diku support has been added. You can now use Merc-style areas. There
currently is a problem with resets, which I am trying to fix. When the
Diku-area is loaded into memory, it will be vamped to the new format. Please
realize that the upper and lower vnums that are set in the Diku format
are defaulted to 0,0. Be careful! Set all the vnums to the correct positions
before continuing. I have finished the RESET loader, and it should be fine,
thus you can just convert the areas and you are on your way. So far, so good!

If you are transferring areas from Merc 2.x,

copy all the area files and the area.lst file into the /area directory
    of the Isles

    edit the area.lst so that the h-*.are, help.are, social.are and limbo.are
are present at the top of the list (help files should go first, but it
    really doesn't matter).

make _sure_ you are ready to go, and print out or have handy a copy of
the vnums.txt which denotes the vnum allotments of the areas by 100s
    that comes with Merc.

shutdown the mud if it is running, and manually load it with your own
command line, using nohup or &. Why? So you can see the log entries
    just in case.

log into the mud and set all the vnums, change the names to what you want,
and do an 'asave world'. now shutdown the mud and use the startup script.

If you are transferring areas from Diku I,

tough luck. use the same method you would to convert it to a Merc area,
    and try from there.

Complimentary UNIX god char. Careful to change the password. Make sure to
realize that the UGC is actually level 40, so there is nothing special. A good
idea, for those paranoid individuals, is to set him to level 41 by editing his
character file. He won't appear on the WHO, but will be a WIZ+ char.

Name: UnixGod
Password: potrzebie

New Comm Routines!

Folks, I added Kalgen's comm routines. These are way more superior than any
other thing I've added. Kalgen managed to write a communication routine
that does not spam-crash the output buffer of the remote connection. So..
no more ofind all crashes, you'll have to sit through the whole thing.

Also, there is an unused but effective packet array, which can be utilized
to find out the average number of packets sent, how many have been sent,
etc. It is indexed by minute. ( packet[time%60] )

In addition, there is a wonderful new snoop method, which looks very much
better than the original merc way, and allows for some nice snooping anti-spam.

Numerous bug fixes:

Fixed bug when you look at someone who is mortally wounded (thanks Arcane).
Fixed the exit-reset bug that was the bane of this mud for over 3 months.

I've decided to be a nice guy and include documention on some of the features.
Documentation is still under production, but I will atleast do a rudamentary
tutorial on the current version of MobScripts. See SCRIPT.TXT that was
included somewhere in this archive.

Added support for the directions northwest, northeast, southwest and southeast.
This is effective everwhere I could find access. If you see something like:

for ( door = 0; door < 5; door++ )

please let me know, as this is in error, the 5 should be MAX_DIR, not a numeral
like Merc did. 'nw' 'ne' 'sw' 'se' are feasible abbreviations.

ex:

look nw
nw
northeast
look se

new bugs

There are a large number of rooms that used to be SAFE, which are now marked
PRIVATE. Also, the affected_by's of some mobs are screwed up. This is due
to incompatibility between the flags of Diku/Merc and The Isles.

IOT Trap w/ core dump when you exit with a boot_db() error .. not a bug, but
unavoidable.

Problem with action_descr in the diku conversion left me with no choice but
to use colorful metaphors in my comments and bypass the reading of this
string.

Makefile and Makefile.nex are set up with the correct filenames, the others
have the old Merc filenames. Switch the fn's and your set.
